LA VIDA Partnership, a community program of CHASS Center, is a domestic violence and sexual assault intervention and prevention program that provides linguistically and culturally appropriate services and resources targeted to Latino/a youth and families in Southwest Detroit and Southeast Michigan.
All services are provided in English and Spanish.
LA VIDA provides the following services:
Support Groups: Groups take place weekly and are available for women in Spanish, both at CHASS Center and local community agencies.
Counseling: Short-term counseling is available for women and youth for both Spanish and English speakers.
Legal Advocacy/Court Accompaniment: LA VIDA staff provides assistance in navigating the legal process for survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault.
Safety Planning: We work with survivors of dating violence, domestic violence and sexual assault to develop a plan that addresses complex safety needs and concerns.
Financial Empowerment: LA VIDA offers classes focusing on signs of financial abuse and building financial literacy and the skills to become financially independent.
Screening and Referral: Survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and families are screened for crisis situations and referred to the appropriate community service agency.
School-based Prevention: Services are provided to local schools and organizations targeting children and adolescents to prevent dating violence and promote healthy relationships.
Youth Services: A range of youth services are provided including counseling for direct victims of dating violence and sexual assault and youth exposed to domestic violence, both at CHASS and on site at local schools.
Community Education: Education and awareness-building efforts to help inform the community of our services and work to reduce intimate partner violence and sexual assault in Southwest Detroit.
Training: LA VIDA offers training to agency-based service providers, schools, law enforcement, court staff and clergy.

LA VIDA was initiated in 2000 in response to an increased demand for services for survivors of domestic violence and a lack of intimate partner violence services in the Southwest Detroit community. LA VIDA Partnership is a collaborative effort between CHASS Center and several other community agencies.
